1. Data We Do Not Collect

Croon does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or personally identifiable information (PII) to us, the developer (David Pšeničnik / Bear Studio).

• We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or user IDs.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not use analytics services or advertising SDKs.
• We do not collect or store your payment information.

2. Information We Process (Non-Personal)

To provide the App's core functionality and ensure stability, Croon processes or handles the following types of non-personal, unidentifiable data:

• Microphone Input (Audio Snippets): Used solely for the song identification request sent to ACRCloud (see Section 4). Audio samples are never stored by Croon. They are deleted immediately after the recognition result is returned by the service.
• Local Recognition History: This history is stored only on your device using iOS UserDefaults for your convenience. It is never uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties.
• Device & Sensor Readings: Non-identifiable device sensor readings (e.g., pitch, tilt) are processed via the CoreMotion framework exclusively for visual effects and UI enhancement. This data is not recorded or stored.

3. Log Data, Analytics, and Cookies

Whenever you use the App, we may collect non-personal information sent by your device, called Log Data.

• Log Data includes information such as your device's operating system version, the configuration of the App, the time and date of your use, and non-identifiable crash reports.
• This data is used solely for the purpose of identifying bugs and improving the App's performance and stability.

Cookies: The App itself does not use cookies. However, it may incorporate third-party code and libraries which may use non-personal tracking technologies (like cookies or similar identifiers) to improve their own services.

4. Third-Party Services

Croon relies on several third-party services to provide its functionality. When you use Croon, the following services may process data:

• ACRCloud (Song Recognition): When you initiate song recognition, the audio snippet is sent to ACRCloud's servers temporarily for matching. Audio is processed in real-time and not stored. We recommend reviewing their privacy practices: https://www.acrcloud.com/privacy/
• MusicBrainz (Song Metadata & Normalization): To provide accurate song information and album details, Croon queries the MusicBrainz database API. Only song titles and artist names are sent to their servers. Learn more: https://musicbrainz.org/doc/About/Privacy_Policy
• Cover Art Archive (Album Artwork): Album cover images are fetched from the Cover Art Archive to enhance your experience. No personal data is transmitted. More info: https://coverartarchive.org/
• Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube (External Links): When you choose to open a song in Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube, you will be redirected to their respective apps or websites. These services have their own privacy policies, and Croon has no control over how they handle your data.

Croon is not responsible for the data collection, use, or security practices of these third-party services.

5. Data Storage & Retention

Local Storage: All recognition history is stored exclusively on your device using iOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device and is not backed up to our servers.

Temporary Data: Audio recordings used for song recognition are temporarily stored in your device's documents directory during processing and are automatically deleted immediately after recognition completes.

Cached Images: Album cover images may be cached in memory during your app session for performance but are not permanently stored.

6. Security

We value your trust. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting data, remember that because Croon stores almost all data locally and collects no PII, the risk to your personal data is minimal. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Your device's built-in security features (encryption, passcode/biometric authentication) protect your local song history.

7. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Since Croon does not collect or store any of your personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to access, change, or delete on your behalf.

• Data Deletion: To delete all recognition history and any local app data, simply delete the Croon app from your device. Alternatively, you can clear your history within the app's History tab.
• GDPR Compliance (EU Users): As we do not collect personal data, standard GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) do not apply. All data remains under your control on your device.
• CCPA Compliance (California Users): We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA.

8. Links to Other Sites

The App may contain links to other sites and services (such as ACRCloud's privacy policy, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, or links to third-party music services). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site or service.

Note that these external sites are not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.

10. App Store & Platform

Croon is available exclusively on the Apple App Store. Apple is not responsible for Croon's privacy practices. Any in-app purchases or tips are processed by Apple, and we do not receive your payment information.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
